Clayton Price Photographer

Clayton Price is an established photographer known for his photojournalism, editorial, documentary, and industrial  photography. He is often drawn to the conceptual, surreal and sometimes quirky sides of his subject matter.

At age 10, he moved with his family from Ohio to Arizona. Leaving the Midwest for the Wild West awakened him to the excitement of visual change, a passion that has remained with him and continues to influence his approach to photography.

In 1964, while working his way through Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, he joined the press corps covering the Johnson/ Goldwater Presidential campaigns.  He then traveled to Kwajalein Island in the Marshall  Islands, (not far from Bikini), where he photographed sophisticated industrial and scientific projects as well as traditional native culture. Two years later Clayton arrived in New York where within a few months, he contributed to a major National Geographic
story and saw his photographs on the cover and inside spread of Life Magazine.  He also worked for, was often syndicated by, numerous international publications, and covered many assignments for the photojournalism agency Black Star.

Now living, working and occasionally teaching in New York City, Clayton explores an eclectic array of subject matter in his fine art, editorial and documentary photography. He is still drawn to the surreal and constantly explores unusual ways to approach the ordinary!
